Transfer Window Closes Tomorrow

Will Toon Make Any Late Moves?

Tomorrow night sees the close of the transfer window with clubs having to conclude their transfer dealings until January. Newcastle have probably been more active than we expected but it will be interesting to see if we can sneak another one in before 6pm.

For me I would be pretty happy with the squad as it is as long as nobody leaves tomorrow. There are still rumours that the club is interested in another striker with Robbie Keane and Dutchman Ricky Van Wolfswinkel mentioned as possible targets. I would have Keane on a loan deal, he is a quality player and would certainly give us another option but if he doesn't come then im not sure we need to outlay money on anyone else considering we have Carroll, Lovenkrands, Ameobi, Best, Xisco and Ranger with the likes of Nolan and Ben Arfa also able to play upfront off a striker.

As I have mentioned previously I think now the only real weak area is left back. Should Enrique pick up an injury or suspension then there is no real natural backup and it was noticable in our play last season when he was missing and somebody else was filling in there. The only issue is obviously that no experienced player is want to come in and play second fiddle to Jose so it would probably have to be a youngster either permanently or on loan really.

Other than that I think we are set if you also consider that we have the likes of Gosling and Steven Taylor (provided he doesn't go anywhere tomorrow of course) to come back from injury. I think a big pat on the back should go to the manager and the board for the way they have gone about their business and brought in players which really look like they are going to strengthen the squad and most importantly in the right areas and especially seeing as it has been done sensibly with a fairly modest budget so we are not stretching ourselves beyond our means like seasons past.

Have to say I will be pleased when the window shuts. I absolutely hate the transfer system since it was changed and all the hype and panic buying it creates just makes it ridiculous and pointless for me. At least this year it closes at 6pm rather than midnight so I don't have to stay up late to hear Sky Sports News trying to make the most insignificant transfer dealings sound like massive news!!

What are people's thoughts? Are you pleased with the signings we have made, do you think we will bring anyone in tomorrow, will anyone leave and do we really need any further signings?
