Another Win On The Road As Derby Beaten By Magpies

Yoan Gouffran continued his Newcastle renaissance with a stunning first half volley which put the Magpies well on the way to a second successive victory on the road, a 4th straight league win and a 5th win on the bounce in all competitions.

A first goal in Newcastle colours in the dying minutes for new recruit Yedlin sealed the victory and put a nice cherry on top of the cake to top off another very professional percformance from Rafa Benitez' team.

I think the most encouraging thing for me at the moment is that we have started winning games whilst in my opinion still not really hitting top gear.

We looked fairly comfortable in this one but I think we could certainly play better but the fact we are still going to tough places like Derby and picking up points is a great sign of how the team is developing a winning mentality which has been missing in that dressing room for so long.

The fact that the manager was again able to make some changes in light of Tuesday's game against QPR is another massive positive as things finally start to feel good around the club for the first time in a long time.

The way Gouffran has come back in and been given a chance by the manager shows what he is all about - he wants results and will do what he thinks he need to to get them.

Derby started fairly well and thankfully an early offide flag bailed us out only miunutes in but from then on we controlled the game in the most part, defended well and after Gouffran volleyed in Shelvey's 20th minute corner we never really looked like losing the game.

Was a slight shame that it took us so long to get the 2nd and seal the win as Diame sqaundered a couple of good chances but we got there in the end and Yedlins goal albeit a bit of a scrappy one made the points safe.

We move onto QPR now which will be another tough game and I am sure the manager will shuffle the pack once again to try and win this one.

If we could get another win on the bounce in this next one then things could be looking very rosy indeed come Tuesday night but it will be a tough one down at Loftus Road.
